Digital versus Film

"Digital photography is both a blessing and a curse for sports photographers.  Digital allows the photographer to shoot more images, and to change the ISO setting and other critical camera settings in mid-stream.  Digital also provides an increased lens magnification factor, usually 1.5X (a telephoto effect) without losing the original aperture opening.  Digital allows one to print images, modify images, and to transmit images world wide, via the Internet, however digital camera bodies, accessories, computers and software required to maintain systems, are quite expensive.  'Going digital' requires extensive time and energy in front of the computer (workflow) to process the images.  Overall, digital has improved all types of Photography, including Sports."
